Rory McGarry
Raised in the small harbour village of Monkstown, Cork, on the south coast of Ireland, Rory has always been pulled toward the horizon. At eighteen, he joined the Irish Defence Forces and served four years as an infantry soldier, including deployments to South Lebanon and a six-month tour of Kosovo at the turn of the century.
Those years of travel and military service shaped the way he sees the world — and sparked the imagination behind Infinitum. He continues to travel widely, drawn to places of historical significance, where he says the past has a way of telling him its own stories.
Rory lives on the Irish coast with his wife, Fatima, and their two sons, Liam and Yago. Infinitum is his debut novel.

"Infinitum is my first published work."
Rory McGarry was raised in the small harbour village of Monkstown, on Cork's south coast the kind of place where the view of the sea sparks a particular kind of curiosity. From an early age, he was determined to explore it and find out what was actually out there.
At eighteen, he joined the Irish Defence Forces, serving four years as an infantry soldier. During that time he was deployed to South Lebanon on two separate six-month tours, and completed a further six-month deployment to Kosovo at the turn of the century.
Those early years of travel and military service left a permanent mark on the way he sees the world, and they became the spark for his writing. He has continued to travel widely ever since, drawn again and again to places of historical significance reading about them, visiting them, and letting his imagination fill in the people and stories a place seems to be quietly telling him.
